Expanding Housing for Veterans: CASA and Operation Coming Home Join Forces

A safe, stable home is the foundation upon which individuals and families build their lives. It’s a place of security, comfort, and opportunity. At CASA, we believe everyone deserves this foundation. Our mission is to provide access to affordable housing for people who are homeless or at risk, and we know that the need is especially critical for those who have served our country. That is why we are incredibly proud to partner with fellow Raleigh nonprofits to address this challenge head-on.

Partnering for Veteran Housing

We are thrilled to spotlight our partnership with Operation Coming Home, a project dedicated to supporting our veterans. This collaboration represents a significant step forward in our shared goal of ending homelessness. Together, we are working on an inspiring project to build 15 new tiny homes specifically designated for veterans in our community. This initiative directly addresses the urgent need for secure and affordable veteran housing, providing a dignified solution for those who have sacrificed so much for our nation.

More Than Just Building Homes

This project is more than just constructing buildings; it’s about restoring hope and providing a pathway to stability. For a veteran facing housing insecurity, a permanent home can be the key to accessing healthcare, securing employment, and reconnecting with the community. Partnerships like this one amplify our impact, combining resources and expertise to create lasting change.

How You Can Make a Difference

The success of these initiatives relies on community support. There are numerous nonprofit volunteer opportunities available for those who want to make a difference. Whether it’s through hands-on help, fundraising, or spreading awareness, your involvement is crucial. By working together, we can ensure that every veteran has a place to call home.

Stronger Communities Start at Home

Over 1 million households are spending more than they can afford on rent. Nearly 10,000 people experienced homelessness last year. And according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, a minimum-wage worker would need to work 85 hours a week to afford a modest two-bedroom apartment in North Carolina.

In fast-growing communities like the Triangle, rising rents are pushing working families, veterans, young adults, and individuals with disabilities closer to instability and closer to homelessness.
