Our Impact

Our work is rooted in Raleigh, where we care for over 400 homes, alongside a strong presence in Durham with more than 150 homes. We also serve communities in Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Garner, Knightdale, Cary, and Wake Forest – expanding access to affordable housing across the region.

But for us, these numbers are about more than growth, they represent our impact:

Affordable Housing is Essential.

It supports health, education, and economic opportunity. That’s why we’re committed not just to increasing the number of homes we provide, but to ensuring each one is safe, well-maintained, and part of a supportive community.

As we grow, our mission remains clear: to expand access to quality, affordable housing and to serve our residents with respect, care, and compassion.

King’s Ridge

King’s Ridge is CASA’s largest, most ambitious project to date. This 100-unit community consists of 1- 2- and 3-bedroom units and is designated for families and individuals moving out of homelessness. For the first time ever, CASA is including supportive services on site.

The building has two medical clinics, case managers, a tenant liaison, and flexible community space – all designed to wrap our future tenants in care and provide them with a healing and supportive community.

Homestead Gardens

It’s no secret that Chapel Hill faces an affordability crisis, with a severe shortage of affordable home rental and ownership opportunities. Homestead Gardens is a public-private partnership to address housing market inequities by providing an opportunity for those who work in low- and middle-income jobs to live near their work and provide access to Chapel Hill’s celebrated public school system.

Homestead Gardens will be located on publicly-owned land at 2200 Homestead Road in Chapel Hill. The project’s vision is to develop an inclusive, mixed-income community offering a variety of housing types that serve a range of incomes, with a priority on households with few options in the local housing market. CASA is developing two rental communities as part of Homestead Gardens: 34 2-bedroom units in collaboration with UNC Horizons to serve mothers with children recovering from substance use, and 22 1-bedroom workforce units for those earning a low wage.

Homestead Gardens will feature mixed-income affordable rental and homeownership units serving a wide range of households. The community is being developed collaboratively as a public-private partnership by four long standing local nonprofits – Self-Help, CASA, Community Home Trust, and Habitat for Humanity of Orange County – in close cooperation with the Town of Chapel Hill and UNC Horizons.

Hope Village at Method

Hope Village at Method is a 9-unit apartment complex in Raleigh, developed by CASA in partnership with The Hope Center at Pullen, to support youth aging out of foster care. The building includes 9 one-bedroom units (8 for residents and 1 for a Resident Advisor) and primarily serves individuals ages 18–24 (up to 27 if parenting). The project addresses the high risk of homelessness among former foster youth by providing stable housing and a supportive environment.

Named by the Hope Center’s Youth Advisory Board, the complex emphasizes community and opportunity. It is conveniently located near public transportation, grocery stores, colleges, and greenways, helping residents stay connected to resources and opportunities.
